Two Kinds of People
I like to judge people
based on how they react,
to learning that I have
rats, (seven in fact).
I find there are two kinds
of people: those who think
I’m the Plaguebringer,
who rides in on a white
horse carrying the big ‘E’,
or the Black or Red Death.
These people I avoid.
But then there are people,
who cherish the little
Furballs who live a life
in rapid succession.
These people understand
how it is to hold and
look at one of these rats,
and see reflected an
equal, adaptable
precious little soul in
their beady, button eyes.
